Abstract: Recurrent and terminal events are commonly observed and often correlated in longitudinal studies. A joint accelerated rate and hazard modeling framework is proposed that simultaneously accommodates recurrent events and an informative terminal event via subject-specific frailty. A rank-based estimation procedure is employed. A perturbation-based approach is refined for estimating the variance-covariance matrix, and Wald and score tests are developed for statistical inference. The proposed methods are supported through numerical studies and illustrated using real-world colorectal cancer datasets.
