Title: Evaluating lifetime employment and productivity losses among patients with cervical spinal cord injury using claims data
Authors: Wei-Ming Wang - Fu Jen Catholic University (Taiwan) [presenting]
Abstract: Spinal cord injury is a severe traumatic event that leads to the loss of motor and sensory functions. In particular, cervical spinal cord injuries can contribute to premature mortality and reduced overall productivity. However, existing analytical methods face challenges in accurately quantifying employment duration and productivity loss when patients return to the workforce. The aim is to develop a novel approach for extrapolated survival function, employment ratio, and salary. Utilizing Taiwan's claims data, life expectancy, employment duration, and productivity losses among individuals with cervical spinal cord injuries will be estimated.
