Title: Simultaneous detection of differential gene expression and gene clustering using mixture models

Abstract: The purpose is to examine the use of EMMIXcontrasts, a finite mixture model based approach for the detection of differential gene expression, which simultaneously clusters the genes based on their expression profiles. This method has been previously been applied to microarray expression data and has now also been shown to work on suitably transformed RNA-sequence data, further enhancing the method's applicability. This method is demonstrated on a number of datasets, via the revamped EMMIXcontrasts R Package, for both the detection of differential gene expression and gene clustering.
