Title: Relationships between summary ROC indices and overlap coefficients

Abstract: One summary ROC index that was very recently studied is the length of the ROC curve. The length successfully captures useful biomarkers, which would have been rejected using standard approaches. Lastly, overlap measures such as Weitzman's measure or Bhattacharyya coefficient have been studied as measures of medical diagnostic test accuracy. We put all these measures under one unifying framework, and some theoretical results regarding their interrelationships have been proved. Both parametric and nonparametric estimators are proposed for these measures. A simulation study is conducted to evaluate the performance of our approaches. Finally, an illustrative example is presented from a study on cancer biomarkers.
