Title: Different flavors of publishing computational work

Abstract: The publication of work on computational methods comes in different flavors: from publishing software through a repository such as CRAN (with accompanying documentation), all the way to describing new concepts and approaches theoretically in a journal article. However, most of the time the ideal solution is somewhere in the middle: we both share the software and its documentation, and also describe the details in an associated research paper. We will present a broad overview of different types of journals relevant to computational statistics, and the accompanying expectations in terms of presentation and availability of software. This will be illustrated with examples from my own experience.
