Abstract: The research employs cyclical convergence analysis and simulation in panel data methodology to evaluate the potential effects of globalization in economic growth. On the basis of this approach, we derive alternative scenarios depending on different assumptions between global interdependences in the regions of the world. Results show that the dynamics of globalization in the last decades have been more driven by convergence in regional growth patterns than by the synchronization of the world economy as a whole.
