Title: Directional statistics and protein bioinformatics: Recent developments
Authors: Christophe Ley - University of Luxembourg (Luxembourg) [presenting]
Abstract: In the bioinformatics field, there has been a growing interest in modelling dihedral angles of amino acids by viewing them as data on the torus. This has motivated, over the past years, new proposals of distributions on the bivariate torus. More generally, questions from the protein structure prediction problem have generated quite some research activity in the field of directional statistics. An overview of the generated research questions and novel statistical methods that have arisen thanks to the demands from protein bioinformatics will be presented.
