Abstract: A new approach is introduced to model multiple bacteria growth curves via the use of a gamma process. The mean of this process can be modeled using a standard growth curve such as Gompertz or via non-parametric approaches such as splines. The model can also be extended to the case where we observe growth curves under different environmental conditions (temperature, salinity or alkalinity). We show how to fit this model using least squares techniques and illustrate it with an application to Listeria growth curves.
