Title: Analysis of networks via the sparse beta-model

Abstract: The Sparse beta-Model (S$\beta$M) is proposed, a new network model that interpolates the celebrated Erdos-Renyi model and the more recent beta-model by distinguishing global and local sparsity. The model has attractive statistical and computational properties for sparse networks with degree heterogeneity. Numerical results are presented to illustrate its usage.
