Abstract: Reference or standard curves are required in many biomedical problems. Values which lie outside the limits of these reference curves may indicated the presence of disorder. Data are from the French EDEN mother-child cohort. We are studying fetal weight that depends on the gestional age in the second and the third trimester of mother's pregnancy. Some classical parametric methods as LMS method are used to construct these curves. However, they require strong assumptions. So, we also propose to estimate these curves by using nonparametric methods as local polynomial estimation. Their performances are illustrated by comparison with parametric methods on the data set.
