Title: Optimal design for infectious diseases

Abstract: Observational studies to understand infectious diseases are often conducted in resource-limited settings. Additionally, models of infectious disease dynamics are often complex. We will discuss some methods for evaluating the utility of a design and searching across the design space, that are particularly beneficial when considering designs for infectious disease dynamics. We will provide some examples of models of infectious diseases where we have used these methods to evaluate and find optimal designs.
