Title: From post hoc analysis to post selection inference

Abstract: The aim is to explain the connection between the work of Tukey and Scheffe on post-hoc analysis, Benjamini and Hochberg's work on the FDR, the work of Efron and colleagues on the Bayesian FDR, my work with Benjamini on selective inference, the work of Berk et al. on post-selection inference, and recent work on frequentist and Bayesian post-selection inferences based on the conditional likelihood.
