Abstract: A varying-coefficient longitudinal disparity model is proposed for analyzing disparity between population groups. The coefficients in the longitudinal model vary over time and modifier. A sophisticated decomposition with respect is presented to the modifier based on the proposed model. The new decomposition shows not only the direct effect of the modifier but also the indirect effect of the modifier through other covariates on the response variable. In addition, it enables us to investigate the traditionally explained disparity by group differences and unexplained disparity by the covariates. The approach is applied to assess a longitudinal disparity of fetal growth.
