Abstract: A novel cusp catastrophe linear regression model is introduced which can be used to model both rational and irrational behaviors simultaneously in social and health behavior research. We propose a maximum likelihood estimation to estimate the model parameters and their associated statistical inference. Simulation studies will be used to validate this novel model and the estimation procedure. A real example is used to illustrate this new methods.
